Passport Sunday event showcases Fairfield’s beautiful Suisun Valley

The spring celebration will be April 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will highlight a dozen wineries and food partners from Suisun Valley and neighboring Green Valley. With their “passports” in hand, guests are invited to spend the day traveling from one winery to the next, tasting unique wines, sampling foods from an array of area restaurants and farmers, and collect stamps on their passports while socializing with family and friends. Tickets are $40 general admission and $20 for designated drivers and can be purchased at any participating winery or online at www.suisunvalley.com

Passport Sunday is one of the biggest parties of the year in Fairfield’s Suisun Valley. Participants are asked to begin their visit at the winery where they purchased their tickets. From there, they can drive to any of the participating wineries and stay at each location for as long as they would like. All of the locations will have wine tasting, food samples, and entertainment. Expect to find the winemakers and their families pouring in the tasting rooms.

“It’s a really fun day for everyone,” said Vicki McKeown, the general manager at Green Valley’s G V Cellars, which is partnering with Fairfield bakery Famous Creations for the Passport event. “People get to go to all these different places, some that they normally can’t go to.  And we also get people who may have never been to G V Cellars before. We’re on the outskirts in Green Valley and people discover us at events like this. It makes it very exciting for us.”

“We love that we get to share this open house with all the other vintners in the area,” added Kerri Cooper, the tasting room manager at Wooden Valley Winery. “We are prepared for 800 people to come through our doors. We love to show people how much fun we can have here and we also hope to get new visitors who discover us at Passport Sunday.”

The participating wineries and food partners include:

• BackRoad Vines with Chef to Go Catering

• G V Cellars with Famous Creations

• Il Fiorello Olive Oil with Executive Chef Marvin Martin

• Mangels Vineyards with Chef to Go Catering
